Grave

I never entered the graveyard
until I was fourteen or so
because it was full of death (of course)
and dark teenagers doing stuff

but I didn't have an option then
since he thought it was funny
to walk over the graves at midnight
some people are just weird.

But to please him, I did. Well, he walked
I jumped over them
quickly looking at the memories
the inscriptions
the lives gone
the people lost.

The Vicar eventually became sick of this
and I'm not surprised myself
but did He really have to rip out the stones
and line them up against the church walls?

I thought it was criminal
but I kept that to myself
and I remember wondering
at christenings
does he drown the babies
if the mothers are too loud?
